2021 Alfa Romeo Giulia vs. 2021 Infiniti Q50: A More Passionate Presence

03/03/2021

There's nothing like being behind the wheel a sports sedan. And if one manufacturer is taking the love for the sedan seriously, it's Alfa Romeo. With four models to choose from (Sprint, Ti, Ti Sport and Quadrifoglio), the Giulia combines style, performance, agility and the passion of the drive that no other sedan has. Its Quadrifoglio model is the "halo" of the lineup, earning the title of the most powerful Alfa Romeo production car.

Needless to say, the brand's rich racing heritage can be found in every nut and bolt of the Giulia.

Here, we compare the 2021 Alfa Romeo Giulia with the 2021 Infiniti Q50.

Advanced engines and components in the 2021 Giulia

A passionate sedan doesn't leave performance behind. The base engine in the Giulia is a 2.0-litre turbocharged unit that sends 280 horsepower and 306 lb-ft of torque to the wheels. Thanks to its finely calibrated systems, the Giulia can speed from zero to 97 km/h in only 5.1 seconds.

The Quadrifolgio variant is powered by a 2.9-litre twin-turbo V6 that produces 505 horsepower and 443 lb-ft of torque. It enables the Giulia to sprint from 0 to 97 km/h in only 3.8 seconds. The Giulia Quadrifoglio set a Nürburgring record lap time of 7:32, the fastest ever by a five-passenger production sedan.

Most of the Infiniti Q50's lineup uses a twin-turbo V6 that deploys slightly more power than the Giulia's base engine, but less torque. The second power option in the Q50, the I-Line Red Sport, is no match to the Quadrifoglio's performance numbers.

On the road, the Q50 can't keep with the Giulia's driving feel and dynamics. To further improve these important facets, all variants come with more advanced mechanical components, like a carbon fibre driveshaft, 50/50 weight distribution and an eight-speed automatic transmission that can shift gears in less than 100 milliseconds when paired with the available aluminum paddle shifters.

A refined and passionate interior inside the Alfa Romeo Giulia

With superior interior materials and finishings, an extremely wide variety of interior and exterior colours, three available appearance packages (Nero Edizione, Carbon and Lusso) and many other equipment, performance and advanced driver assistance packages to choose from depending on the variant, the Giulia offers a better package than the Q50 in terms of style.
