2021 Alfa Romeo Giulia vs. 2020 Jaguar XE: Emotion in Performance

02/18/2021

Alfa Romeo's lineup is built around La Meccanica delle Emozioni (the mechanics of emotion), which not only means its engines have more than just horsepower, they deliver performances that trigger emotions. Its vehicles don't only have aerodynamic lines and extensive exterior equipment; they are charming to the eye in every way.

The Alfa Romeo Giulia is back in 2021 with more standard equipment than ever before, and it is ready to take on its segment with more style, more expression and, of course, more technical features.

Here, we compare the 2021 Alfa Romeo Giulia with the Jaguar XE.

More power and torque in the 2021 Alfa Romeo Giulia

The 2021 Alfa Romeo Giulia is served in four courses: Sprint, Ti, Ti Sport and Quadrifoglio. The first three variants are powered by a four-cylinder, 2.0-litre turbocharged powerplant that dishes out 280 hp and 306 lb-ft of torque.

The last trim is the Quadrifoglio. It is Alfa Romeo's quickest production car and it is armed with a Ferrari-derived 2.9-litre twin-turbo engine that delivers 505 horsepower. The Giulia Quadrifoglio delivers a 0 to 97 km/h sprint in 3.8 seconds and a top speed of 307 km/h.

Every Giulia model is equipped with a quick-shifting automatic 8-speed gearbox and a class-exclusive carbon fibre driveshaft that helps put the power to the ground quickly, but also saves weight.

The Jaguar XE also offers a choice of two power levels. In the base XE model, a 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine delivers 247 horsepower and 269 lb-ft of torque. This engine is no match with the Giulia's base engine.

The other option is in the R-Dynamic variant. It delivers 296 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque. Although it has slightly more horsepower than the Giulia's base variant, it loses a lot of ground in torque, not to mention it is certainly no match for the Quadrifoglio variant.

More style and possibilities in the Alfa Romeo Giulia

There is no doubt that the Giulia is a more passionate car than the Jaguar XE. First, its exterior colour choice is much larger, letting owners get more inspired. Four new colours have been added for 2021: Ocra GT Junior, Rosso GTA, Rosso Villa d'Este and Verde Montreal. The Giulia also lets buyers choose from the Nero Edizione, Lusso or Carbon exterior appearance packages for even more possibilities.
